This picture comes from a series I did as student work. Series were focused on achieving a more natural, "drawn" or "painted" look by using only hand-painted textures, simple lighting and simple forms. There were around 6 pictures in the series.
This one is pretty much just Lightwave Hypervoxels. I remember it had to be rendered over 4 days in pieces (in print resolution) and then stitched together in Photoshop .
